Yu Weiguo, secretary of the Fujian CPC standing committee, and Tang Dengjie, governor of Fujian, met a delegation led by Fu Kun-chi, head of Hualien county, Taiwan, in Fuzhou on May 2, local media reported.

"Under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important thoughts on Taiwan affairs, we have broad opportunities to facilitate Fujian-Taiwan exchanges and cooperation," said Yu.

Specifically, Fujian will implement a series of preferential policies benefiting Taiwan people working on the mainland, according to Yu, including the 31 measures released by the central government to enhance cross-Straits economic and cultural cooperation.

The 31 measures, issued on Feb 28, aims to  allow Taiwan-funded enterprises to enjoy treatment equal to that for mainland enterprises, and also provide equal treatment for Taiwan people to study, live, work and run startups on the mainland.

He added that Fujian would be the pilot zone for carrying out these measures.

Fu Kun-chi expressed gratitude for Fujian's care and support when the earthquake struck Hualien on earlier this year.

He also showed admiration for Fujian's achievements in recent years, and hoped that, with Hualien's abundant tourism resources and outstanding agricultural industry, both sides will strengthen cooperation for shared benefits.
