About 4,000 people climbed up the Gushan Mountain to greet the arrival of New Year in Fuzhou, capital city of Southeast China's Fujian province on the first day of 2018.

The event, jointly sponsored by General Administration of Sports of China and Chinese Mountaineering Association, is part of the annual nationwide mountaineering event to celebrate the New Year in China

This year, 30 climbing events of various scales were held across the country on the day with the estimated attendance of more than one million people.
