Three hundred years ago, residents in Dapu town in Southeast China's Fujian province started to learn how to make incenses.

The traditional workmanship got perfected and inherited throughout the ages and Dapu became the “home of incense in China” and a major base for incense production.

It now houses 296 incense-making companies that are capable of producing more than 300 different varieties of incenses. The total annual output value has exceeded 4 billion yuan ($600 million).

December is the peak season for incense sales in the region, and a large number of incenses are now spread out under the sun to prolong their shelf life.
