The Ninth Global Chinese-language Media Forum was a success with fruitful outcomes, according to Tan Tianxing, deputy director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.

Tan made the comment during his speech at the closing ceremony of the forum in Fuzhou, Fujian province on Sept 11.

The event brought together professionals from hundreds of Chinese-language media organizations based in countries around the world to discuss how journalists can cover the rise of China in an age of new media.

The discussions led to the signing of the Global Chinese-language Media Forum Fuzhou Declaration by 470 media professionals from more than 60 countries and regions.

The declaration confirms the forum attendees'consensus that Chinese-language media across the world should embrace the opportunities being created by the Belt and Road Initiative, pursue innovative and integrated development, and contribute to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

It was also announced at the meeting that the tenth edition of the annual event will be held in Shijiazhuang, capital of North China's Hubei province.
