The fifth session of the 12th Fujian People's Congress started with Governor Yu Weiguo's work report on the morning of Jan 18.

The session will run for five days and is to conclude on Jan 22. Its agenda includes:

The hearing and deliberation of Fujian's government work report;

The examination and approval of the execution of Fujian’s 2016 socioeconomic development plan and the draft plan for 2017;

The approval of Fujian's socioeconomic development plan for 2017;

The examination and approval of the implementation of Fujian's budget plan for 2016 and its draft budget for 2017;

The approval of Fujian's budget plan for 2017;

The hearing and deliberation of the work reports of the Fujian People's Congress Standing Committee, the Fujian Provincial Higher People's Court, and the Fujian Provincial Higher People's Procuratorate;

And the deliberation of the draft plan for protection of senior residents' rights.
