A local farmers’ cooperative has finally seen its agricultural products hit the shelves at supermarkets in Pingtan, after it obtained a collective trademark.
The Pioneer Agri-Cooperative, with 70 members, includes 67 farmers who mostly produce fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, livestock, fish and flowers, has recently made great efforts to get a collective trademark from the National Trademark Office.
It is also the first collective trademark approved in Pingtan.
“The quality of our products has always been good. But it was difficult to promote them to the supermarkets due to the lack of a collective trademark. We are happy that it is no longer the case,” said Chen Jinhua, head of the cooperative.
The registration of a collective mark will significantly increase the farmers’ income, as it will optimize resources, realize large-scale operations and elevate the added-value of their products, said an employee of the local market supervision bureau.
