China's organizations connect the leaders and the people

The chairwoman of the Fujian provincial Women's Federation who is a delegate at the current National People's Congress session in Beijing has emphasized the importance of China's social organizations and the need for the country to give them as much support as possible

Wu Hongqin made the remark during the National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, also known as the “two sessions”, which opened in Beijing, on March 3, where she explained, “These organizations in China act as a liaison and means of communication between the government and the people at large for more democratic consultation and maintaining stability.”

There are a variety of these organizations in China playing role in many areas, such as the Women's Federation, Communist Youth League, Federation of Industry and Commerce and the China Federation of Literature and Art.

About her own work, Wu had this to say: “The Fujian Women's Federation provides a site where the demands of women and children can be heard in a timely manner. And, women can join the community management work voluntarily.”

She added that Xiamen has 224 private social service centers and 2,069 licensed social workers, who are devoting themselves to building a better city.
