Fuzhou getting tough in graft crackdown

Fuzhou's procuratorate has announced that it dealt with 142 corruption and bribery cases last year, 12 of which involved more than 1 million yuan ($160,000), Strait News has reported, on March 2, noting that 218 people in all, including 11 officials at the division level were involved.

The news came at a work conference, on March 1, with the procuratorate saying it had increased the crackdown on burglaries, robberies and drug crimes, arresting 7,360 suspects, and prosecuting 11,506

It also dealt with 59 cases related to environmental pollution and poisoned food.

The procuratorate has begun to explain the procedures of its cases and related legal documents online and has appeared on popular social networks such as Weibo and WeChat.
