Small tremors were recorded in many parts of Fujian province after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan early on Saturday, Southeast Express reported.

The jolt in Fujian occurred simultaneously with the quake in eastern Taiwan at 4:06 am, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

Internet users in the cities of Xiamen, Fuzhou, Ningde and Quanzhou all reported the tremor.

“I was using the toilet at that moment. Imagine how terrifying it was when you sit and feel everything shaking,” wrote a blogger from Ningde on Weibo, China’s Twitter-like Internet service.

Another blogger in Fuzhou claimed that he was woken by a vibrating sliding door on a balcony. “It even had a rhythm. I assumed it was an alien knocking at the door,” he said.
