A man from Fujian province is now in trouble after steering his car into the guardrails of the US Consulate in Shanghai at late night on Feb 12, local police said.

A guard was slightly injured by the accident which happened around 9:43 pm. He has been admitted to hospital.

The driver, Liu Daojie, 35, from Jianning county in Sanming city, explaining his reckless behavior said he felt someone was chasing him so he decided to crash into the consulate in order to “cause attention”.

Police have said he wasn’t drunk or on drugs. The case is being investigated.
