No new human H7N9 cases reported in Xiamen since Jan 18

All confirmed H7N9 patients this winter have recently tested negative for the H7N9 strain of bird flu, and no new human H7N9 cases have been reported since 18th January.

Xiamen reported its first human H7N9 case this winter on December 29th, and as of 13th January a total of 4 H7N9-infected patients have been released from quarantine and are receiving treatment at normal wards.

All the patients are in stable condition and receiving further treatment at normal wards. The experts said they will be discharged from the hospital in accordance with their recovery.

The recovery rate of the H7N9 bird flu in Xiamen is at 70%. A 12-year-old student who was infected with the H7N9 virus died in Xiamen on January 13th.

The experts have reaffirmed that the H7N9 virus is preventable, controllable and curable, and it is now in random occurrence in Xiamen.

An expert team composed of over 30 medical experts has led over 260 medical workers to fight against the H7N9 virus spread since the first H7N9 case was confirmed in Xiamen.
