A woman gave birth to a baby boy in the carriage of a D2318 train traveling from North Shenzhen to North Xiamen on January 31.
According to the press release, the pregnant woman was taking the train to Xiamen with her husband when she suddenly felt pains in her belly. The staff on the train responded quickly by evacuating the rest of passengers in that carriage to other ones and used a white cloth to turn the carriage into a makeshift delivery room. Some female passengers helped with the delivery, and the pregnant woman was able to give birth to the baby boy at around 15:11 on the train.
The staff also called ahead to Zhangzhou Station, the next station where they were heading and booked medical staff and an ambulance from the Zhangzhou No.3 Hospital in advance. The baby and his mother were rushed to the hospital by the medical staff as soon as they arrived at the Zhangzhou Station.
After they reached the hospital, there were also many warmhearted passengers who called the baby’s father to express their concern and congratulations.
