Fujian province will take up a number of measures in order to improve people's livelihood, according to Fujian Governor Su Shulin on Jan 28.

For starters, it will help more citizens to find jobs by planning to provide job opportunities for 600,000 urban and 400,000 rural residents.

Insurers of the rural and urban endowment system will enjoy higher subsidies. Local governments in Fujian will strive to maintain a healthy property market while building 75,000 affordable houses for all people in need, and offering more financial support for low-income residents.

Su set out the goals in an annual work report by the provincial government delivered at the 3rd session of the 12th Fujian Provincial People’s Congress.

In addition, Fujian plans to build 100 public kindergartens, elevate academic level in colleges and universities and promote private non-government funded education, special education, continuing education as well as old-age education. It will boost the cultural and sports industries by integrating public cultural resources, cultivating iconic cultural programs, making better preservation of cultural relics, promote media business and roll out a great many fitness programs for people of all ages.

Also, Fujian will beef up road safety measures and pay more attention to food safety issues by enhancing market supervision and improve the accountability system.

Fujian will also strengthen the militia and reserve forces, step up coast border defense efforts and promote a closer relation between soldiers and the common people, according to the report.
