The horrendously spectacular scene is a triennial tradition at Pukou Village in Chaoyang town, Zhangzhou city. The pigs are sacrifices for the deities whom worshippers pray to in order to be blessed with harvests and happiness.
Other rituals include hoisting of umbrella-like props, lanterns and colorful balls.
