Xiamen warns of contact with live poultry

The public should be extra careful when handling live poultry to prevent contracting animal originated diseases, the Xiamen Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned.

The Xiamen Centre for Disease Control and Prevention issued its latest health forecast to the public on 2nd January. According to the forecast, the major infectious diseases that should be paid strong attention to in the near future are hand-foot-mouth disease, influenza, infectious diarrhea, H7N9, Ebola, and H5N6.

According to the Xiamen Disease Control and Prevention Center, several cases of human infection of the H7N9 strain of bird flu have been reported in some areas of the country. It is very necessary for people to take protective measures when touching live poultry and avoid contact with H7N9 patients. In addition, they emphasize that people should form good health habits and wash their hands frequently.
