Direct bullet trains running from Xiamen to Guangzhou are expected to be launched in the near future, according to reports.

The Xiamen-Shenzhen High Speed Railway entered into operation last year. With a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour, the travel time from Xiamen to Shenzhen by train has now been cut to less than 4 hours.
However, although the new railway makes it possible for visitors from Guangzhou to pop into Xiamen, tourists who want to visit Xiamen now still need to take trains from Guangzhou South Railway Station and then transfer at Shenzhen North. Therefore, some tourists have expressed their wish that bullet trains could be launched between Xiamen and Guangzhou.
According to reports, the transformation project of the Pinghu South Station (平湖南站) on the Xiamen-Shenzhen HSR has been completed successfully. Therefore, the Xiamen-Shenzhen railway and Guangzhou-Shenzhen railway have now been connected, which has created the conditions for the launch of the Xiamen-Guangzhou direct bullet train service.
According to the Nanchang Railway Bureau, facilities along the Xiamen-Guangzhou line still need improvement. In the near future, direct bullet trains from Xiamen to Guangzhou are expected to be launched, and tourists will then be able to travel more quickly between the two cities.
