A photo exhibition featuring ancient Maritime Silk Road culture and relics opened at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, on Tuesday.

The five-day show displays pictures of 200 cultural relics along the Maritime Silk Road, a series of trade and cultural exchange routes linking East and West that began in the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD).

Items include china, silk, ceramics, gold and silver ware, spices, bronze ware, old coins, glassware and ancient ornaments.

The exhibition is jointly hosted by the Chinese Permanent Commission to the UN and the Fujian Provincial Government, sponsored by many Chinese museums.

Fujian, as one of the birthplaces of the Maritime Silk Road, played a pivotal role in the evolution of the Road and bilateral trade.
