Train tickets for Feb 4, the first day of the Spring Festival travel period, went on sale on Dec 7 Sunday.

Tickets of trains from Fuzhou to other popular cities, such as Hefei, Chengdu, Wuhang, Nanjing and Shanghai, were sold quickly, according to the Xinhua New Agency.

For example, soft and hard sleeper tickets of the K392 train connecting Fuzhou and Chengdu on Feb 4 were sold out within one hour. And it was the same with the D3126 bullet train (from Fuzhou to Hefei), as not a single ticket - first-class, second class or even standing-room-only places - was left.

Information for tickets to some popular destinations was unavailable on 12306.cn, the official website of the Ministry of Transport on Sunday.

The Spring Festival travel spree, or simply chunyun, refers to the largest population migration lasting 40 days in China around the Spring Festival, the most important traditional festival in China. A total of 3.6 billion trips were made during the 2014 chunyun.

The 2015 chunyun starts from Feb 4 and ends on March 16.
