Fujian province has recently given the green light to accountants from Hong Kong and Macao to jointly set up accounting firms in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone.

The policy, which will be valid until Oct 30 2016, states that applicants from the two places can partner up with mainlanders to found an accounting firm. They, of course, will need to possess related accounting certificates.

The Fujian Provincial Bureau of Finance will be the authority for accepting and approving the applicants.

Accounting firms in Pingtan will also report to the Bureau before they recruit accountants from Hong Kong and Taiwan.

With the policy, Pingtan became the third place on the Chinese mainland to allow HK and Macao accountants to be partners of an accounting firm, following the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hongkong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone in Shenzhen, Guangdong province and the Shanghai Free Trade Zone.
