Zhang Binbin broke the ice for the Fujian delegates when she and her teammates were crowned at the women’s shooting 10m air rifle on Sept 22, setting a new world record with a score of 1253.8 points.

In the women’s 25m air pistol shooting, Zhang Jinjin, also from Fujian, beat Chen Ying, her teammate in the national team, to win another gold medal.

Yao Jinnan and Chen Siyi, both with the Chinese gymnastics team, dominated the team finals of the women’s gymnastics with a score of 229.3 points. It is the 11th straight championship for the Chinese team at this event at the Asian Games.

During the men’s 69kg weightlifting final, world champion Lin Qingfeng totaled 342 kg (184 kg in jerk and 158 kg in snatch) to defeat Kim Myong-hyok from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on Monday night. It is also the first gold medal at weightlifting for the Chinese delegation.

The momentum continued on the next day, as Fujian natives collected two more golds at Wushu (Martial Arts) and Gymnastics.

Chen Zhouli topped all his opponents at Tai Chi (Chinese shadowboxing) with a score of 19.55.

Yao Jinnan was unstoppable in the women’s all-round gymnastics, winning three of four programs at the event, and eventually claiming the gold with a total of 57.9 points. It is her second gold medal at the Asian Games.
