The Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Fujian provincial government have donated 3 million yuan ($486,000) to earthquake-stricken Yunnan province, Xinhuanet.com reports on Aug 5.

A 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit Ludian county in the southwest province on Aug 3, killing nearly 400 people as of Tuesday.

On behalf of its more than 37 million people, Fujian expresses deep concern for those affected by the disaster. It honors the soldiers and people who came to the rescue on the frontline and has decided to donate the money as a quake-relief fund, said a message of condolence jointly issued by the committee and government.

With the entire country’s support, Yunnan will no doubt overcome all sorts of difficulties in the aftermath of the quake and rebuild the homeland for its people, the message said.
