Xiamen sets up drinking stations for sanitation workers

The civilization office of Xiamen Municipal Party Committee and Xiamen Daily initiated an activity to set up free drinking stations for sanitation workers along the streets on July 3. The activity encourages shops and companies along the streets to provide a place for sanitation workers to drink water and have a rest.

Huang Helin, deputy director of Xiamen municipal publicity department, said that the activity aimed to draw more attention to sanitation workers, a group working hard in the hot summer. Drinking stations along the streets are signs to call on the masses to show respect to sanitation workers and provide a better work condition for them.

Thirty-two shops and companies along the streets have joined the activity of setting up drinking stations for sanitation workers, in Guankou town, Jimei district, Xiamen city, Fujian province. These shops and companies provides water, places to rest and toilets for sanitation workers.

These stations have covered two thirds of sanitation working areas in Guankou. The industrial park, with a wide range but few shops, has few drinking stations. Sanitation workers in industrial park need toilets and places to rest. Zhou Yuhui, director of Guankou Individual Labor Association, said that he would contact some factories in the industrial park for providing convenience for sanitation workers.
