Four more cross-Straits forums and activities will be held in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone over the next couple of days, according to a local working office for Taiwan affairs.
A forum on cross-Straits financial cooperation will kick off on June 13, followed by the Straits (Pingtan) Sports Forum on June 14 and the Cross-Straits Common Homeland Forum on June 16.
Scholars and pundits in the economy and sports industry will discuss in depth cross-Straits financial cooperation, sports communication, and especially how Pingtan can draw experiences from Taiwan to develop itself into a free trade port, sources said.
All of the three forums are sub-forums of the 6th Strait Forum, which features an array of activities on grassroots exchanges between Taiwan and the Chinese mainland.
The 6th Strait Forum will be staged in Xiamen city from June 14 to 20.
To increase cross-Straits communications at grassroots level, Pingtan will stage a bicycle race open to workers from across the Straits on June 17. About 180 of them are expected to compete on this occasion.
A Sand Sculpture Festival will also open to the public on Saturday.
