The city of Xiamen in Fujian province has recently been authorized with executive power of approval at provincial level for 42 items, the Fujian Daily reported on April 17.

It is the largest one-time devolution of administrative power by the provincial government, expanding Xiamen’s privilege of executive authority to 58 items, said the newspaper.

With the authorization, Xiamen will independently exam and approve the establishment of auction enterprises, the issuing of permits for companies producing hazardous chemicals, accrediting the qualification of special workers and intermediary agencies for overseas tours, registration of Public Funds, and so on.

Meanwhile, Xiamen is carrying out another round of reforms in a bid to simplify the executive procedures and increase work efficiency. It is said that it is cutting the number of items that require examination and approval at municipal level by 25 percent
