Xiao Li, a sophomore at Xiamen’s Jimei University, offers free hairdressing to schoolmates and is gaining popularity among his peers.

"It usually costs at least 30 yuan ($4.824) to have our hair done. What’s more, with summer drawing near, we need to have our hair cut more often," said Xiao Li.

Xiao Li came up with the idea of opening his own hair dressing studio at school because it’s getting more expensive to get one’s hair done at a hair dressing salon.

As a student majoring in art, he is confident of his aesthetic taste. He bought scissors, an apron and a hair drier and began serving his “customers” on campus. His first customer is one of his roommates, who was very satisfied with his work.

One feature of his hair dressing studio is that it only serves schoolmates and is free of charge. Xiao Li is enjoying being an amateur hair dresser and is considering learning more hair styles to cater to the different demand of the “customers”.
