Cao Dewang, founder of Fuyao Glass in the city of Fuqing, Fujian province, and one of the philanthropists in China, showed up as a member of the National People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), in front of the Great Hall of the People, on March 3.

Cao says that this year he is focusing more on food safety, and the whole nation should attach great importance to it, adding that China is an agricultural country with a large population, so the country's primary task is to improve people's well-being by achieving food self-support.

The fast urbanization posts new challenges to food safety, along with resources and environmental problems that also put constraints on agricultural development.

Apart from food security, Cao is also turning his attention to private enterprises, especially the small and micro businesses that are facing difficulties in financing, labor shortage, high taxation, poor services and low productivity. He suggests that governments at all levels should give more attention to small and micro businesses and help them deal with these problems.
