A land procurement and relocation project which was launched in the second half of last year in Jidiao village,Pingtan county, east China's Fujian province, is now almost complete, as only 20 houses are yet to be demolished.

The project aims to demolish a total of 145 houses in order to make way for several engineering projects such as those concerning Jidiao Road and Ruyi Road, which will connect the business area to Jidiao wharf.

As of Feb 21, the owners of 125 out of the 145 houses have agreed to relocate and will receive compensation, and 114 of the houses have already been torn down, according to the team responsible for the demolition work.

The team will strive to persuade the remaining households to agree to the relocation, and to demolish the houses within the next 20 days.

Cai Yuwang, a member of the team, said that it is "difficult" to persuade the homeowners, and that they should "put the house owners' rights and interests in the first place and help them get more compensation in return."
