Yongding county is home to more than 23,000 tulou, or earthen buildings, which are a UNESCO world cultural heritage. Yang Zhenjian, producer of the Chinese kung fu movie - which features state of the art special visual effects - said he spent 5 months looking all over the country for a location to shoot several scenes, and finally chose Yongding Hakka earth buildings, which he referred to as a “miracle of Chinese architecture”.

Several TV dramas, including Xia Nan Yang, Red Cradle and Xun Lu - which air during CCTV’s prime time – were shot at the site.

Yongding county has also implemented several cultural tourism projects, including an international film studio with an investment of 5.5 billion yuan ($926 million), an Hakka ancient town with an investment of 3.2 billion yuan, and Tianzi Hot Spring Resort with an investment of 1.2 billion yuan.
