Xiamen University ranks 19th in China

The list of the 2014 Top 100 Universities in China was recently published on the Chinese Alumni Website and Xiamen University ranked 19th on the list, and was named a five-star and first class university, en.xmnn.cn
has reported.

Two other universities in Fujian made the list: Fuzhou University ranked 77th and Fujian Normal University ranked 93rd , and both were classified as three-star universities.

Beijing University was named top university in China - and received six stars, the highest grade , along with Qinghua University, the USTC and the RUC.

A total of 23 universities - including Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, Wuhan University, Zhejiang University and Nanjing University - were selected as first class, five-star universities.

The ranking was based on criteria such as the university's success in scientific research and talent cultivation, and Beijing University scored 100 while Xiamen University scored 73.01.

The website also released lists including: the top 10 independent colleges in China, top 10 private universities, the top 10 universities with the most outstanding teaching resources and top 10 universities with the largest donations from alumni.

Only Fuzhou University - among all the universities and colleges in Fujian province -made the list of the top 10 universities concerning donations from alumni.
