A governmental delegation led by Qiu He, the party secretary of Kunming, made an in-depth investigation into the business prospects of Dehong prefecture on May 12.

During the two-day trip, authorities visited Mangshi, Ruili and Wanding to investigate their business conditions.

They also learned about the layout of a national key development experimental zone in Ruili, and paid a visit to companies engaging in the red wood and jade stones, understanding the development of the two industries in Dehong prefecture.

The delegation felt excited for the area’s rapid economic development and the efforts made to build the China’s gateway opening to the southwest.

“Dehong enjoys four features--prominent port advantages, unique national styles, rich tropical green resources, and jade treasures–which are keys to fulfill our economic goals,” said Qiu.

In addition, the delegation also signed a cooperative framework agreement on promoting the gateway construction with the local government.

According to the agreement, a series of projects will be carried out in Dehong, including a cross-border economic zone, three industrial parks and a distribution hub.

Zhao Jin, Party chief of Dehong prefecture, said the agreement indicated that the strategic cooperation between Kunming and Dehong has made tremendous progress. “It will play a positive role in pushing the development of Dehong at all levels,” he said.
