All 211 primary and middle schools housing 63,000 students in earthquake-hit Yingjiang county resumed classes on March 21.

Classes resume in quake-hit Yingjiang

On March 10, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit Yingjiang county, resulting in a direct economic loss of 230 million yuan. All primary and middle school students had to leave their campuses.

Under the guidance of the Central Government and the Yunnan provincial government, a special working group was set up to speed up repairs and set up tents as temporary classrooms.

Classes resume in quake-hit Yingjiang

On March 14, the Gangmeng Center Primary School resumed classes in a tent donated by the army following an inspection by the Yingjiang county education bureau.

To help teachers and students handle the emotional costs of a natural disaster, experts with the Yunnan provincial seismological bureau delivered lectures on earthquakes, and 14 psychologists offered counseling consultation.
