Zhongguancun attended overseas Chinese summit in Sydney

Duan Jielong, Consulate General of China in Sydney attended the Summit of Overseas Chinese High-End Talent in Australia on Feb 25 2012. The summit was held in Sydney and a liaison office of Zhongguancun talents in Sydney was set up that same day.

Lv Xiwen, member of the standing committee for the Beijing Municipal CPC Committee and director of the Beijing Organization Department attended the event.

Consul General Duan welcomed the delegation led by Director Lv Xiwen.

Consul General Duan addressed the event and introduced the basic situation of education in New South Wales, focusing on the number and the distribution of Chinese students and scholars in the state. Duan thanked Australian and NSW governments at all levels for their efforts and contributions to the cooperation in education, science and technology between China and Australia.

Duan hopes that Chinese students in Australia can take the opportunity to participate in similar activities and apply their knowledge and skills in China's construction work.

Director Lv Xiwen introduced that there is a high demand for overseas high-end talents in Beijing. He also talked about the relevant policy on the introduction of talents. Lv mentioned the situation of talent introduction work in the Zhongguancun Science Park and the overseas talents gathering project in Beijing. He encouraged overseas students in Australia to return to China upon their completion of study and apply their overseas-acquired knowledge and skills to the building of a better capital.

There were more than 300 Chinese students, experts and scholars from all over Australia who attended the summit and it was widely reported on by local Chinese media. Counselor Wang Xiaojia, Consul Zheng Demin, vice-consul Zhu Hao of the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney also attended the event.
