More awareness for Anhui's smoking cessation clinics
Updated: 2012-06-06

On May 31,the World No Tobacco Day, all forms of tobacco consumption should be avoid in 24-hour across the globe.

The result was rather disappointing in the major hospitals in Hefei. Surprisingly almost every major hospital has smoking cessation therapy, though some are under the title of Respiratory Department. Doctors explained that most smoker's relatives are keen to find out details about the therapy, rather than the actual smokers. The majority of the smoking cessation clinics are rarely being visited by the people needing the help.

According to an authority in one hospital, the clinic would normally receive around 10 people requesting information on the therapy while the majority of them were not patients themselves. In a lot of cases, the patients themselves rarely paid visits to the hospital to keep a regular check up on their health situation unless their life was on the line. The doctor then said that not many people are willing to spend both money and time to undergo therapy to help them quit smoking.

Many smokers believe that the result of their efforts to quit smoking only has something to do with their willingness and consciousness. Doctors say it would actually be more painless and have more reliable effects to try the smoking cessation therapy as well as follow the proper guidance and advice from doctors. Majority of patients get more confidence and knowledge this way and are able to continue the process without the therapy, some are even able to completely quit smoking.
