The ruins of ancient city gates were found in Shou county
Updated: 2012-02-17

Ancient city gates from the Warring States period (475-221 BC), Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) were found during the reconstruction of Dinghu Lake Gate in Shou county, Anhui province.

In 1975, the Party committee of the county decided to tear down the north gate and the small town outside the west gate in order to make transportation more convenient. The county recently decided to reconstruct the west gate, named Dinghu Lake gate, in an effort to promote local tourism.

During the reconstruction, the ruins of the ancient city gates were found. These monuments have great archeological and historic significance, and are important for research endeavors in the Shou county.
