With the Spring Festival approaching, the California Walnut Commission is offering innovative and healthy Spring Festival recipes, which combine walnuts with traditional Chinese cuisine.

The organization recently organized a cooking class in Beijing to show how walnuts can be incorporated into popular Chinese holiday dishes for a healthy and balanced diet, including a dish with pig's trotters, tomatoes and walnuts.

Walnuts a are good source of magnesium and phosphorus, which are important for energy metabolism and bone health and are responsible for helping regulate heart rhythm, the commission said.
