Cities are going digital - but slowly

China Daily | Updated: 2011-12-21 15:53

The first E-home Index of Chinese Urban Citizens report recently released in Beijing shows the general digitalized degree of Chinese communities remains low - only 34.04 out of total score of 100. However, individual appliances have been popularized among the country's urbanites, and the authoritative national standard to guide the development of digitalized community is developing.

The report is based on three months of surveys of 14 cities. It's co-written by a special committee under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Sichuan's Changhong Group, one of the country's major household appliance manufacturers.

The index will be released every year to accelerate the digitalization of residential communities in China.
