Yaoju Opera is an ancient folk art form of theatrical singing popularized in East China's Zhejiang Province. The opera stresses the beauty of flowing arias and the smart humor of its lyrics. Recently a team of Mainland Yaoju opera artists visited Taiwan, performing to enthusiastic response with their repertory program "Wang Yangming."

Artists from the YaoJu Art Troupe of Zhejiang Province captivated the packed house with their masterful delivery of beautiful tunes.

The performance is part of the on-going Taiwan-Zhejiang Cultural Festival, which provides a perfect platform for artists across the Straits to communicate and exchange ideas.

"The show's awesome! I came a long way here and it's all worth it! It taught me a lot about the historical figure Wang Yangming, who I admire very much."

The performance is centered on Ming Dynasty philosopher, calligrapher and official Wang Yangming, who was born in Yuyao of Zhejiang. He was one of the leading figures in the Neo-Confucian School of Mind.
