Chinese music highlights Spring Festival Concert in Brussels

More signs of the season were evident in a small town called Leuven located west of Brussels, the capital of Belgium. Last Saturday, sixteen young artists from Jiangsu province visited the town to perform a Spring Festival Concert. They also stopped by the Chinese language classes of the local schools.

Leuven is in the area of Belgium where most people speak Dutch. The ensemble from Jiangsu province is the first of its kind to come to the area to perform. With the help of local Chinese society, they are not only able to bring their performance for the audiences there, but are also able to come to the school to talk with the students there.

The students showed great interest in the classic Chinese musical instruments such as flute and Erhu fiddle.

Leuven is a center for high tech industry. Local enterprises cooperate often with Chinese companies.And overseas Chinese in the area have contributed a great deal to the development of the city. As a result, local people there would like to know more about Chinese culture and learn the Chinese language.
