Animate gala for China's Lunar New Year
Not only will the Chinese people have a big celebration for the lunar new year, but also the country's popular cartoon figures. They will be animated live on stage for their own Spring Festival gala on China Central Television.

Monkey King, who has many faces, gets a new job for the year of rabbit: he'll be the director of CCTV's animation gala. Under his direction, 19 performances are programmed for the 90-minute children's party. Highlights include a new story for the famous detective Mr. Black, Happy Goats and Big Big Wolf, and a traditional shadow puppet show.

Those who have lent their voices to these favorite cartoon figures will also be invited, including Li Yang, Ju Ping, Dong Hao and Wang Xuechun.
Zhang Moran, Director of CCTV's Animation Spring Festival Gala, said, "We received a great number of plays from across China after we had the idea to stage an animation Spring Festival gala. Finally, we've selected the final ten companies to join us."
Li Yang, Planner of CCTV's Animation Spring Festival Gala, said, "We should also lend the latest international cutting-edge technology and mix it with our own. I hope next year we can produce a real international animation Spring Festival Gala with deep traditional culture."
