Christie's Autumn Auction 2010 on display in Beijing
Glassware from the Qing Dynasty and Zhang Daqian's imitative painting will be among the lots of Christie's autumn auction at Beijing International Club.
Combining the shape of bronze ware and the sheen of jade, this wine vessel is actually made of glass. Dating back to the reign of Emperor Qianlong during the Qing Dynasty, the vessel is among 67 glass wares that will go under the hammer at the coming autumn sale by Christie's.

From shapes to patterns, Chinese glass wares have shown creative designs distinct from those made in the west.
The autumn sale also contains fine works of calligraphy and painting. One of the highlights is the painting "Flying Goddess" by Zhang Daqian. It was done during Zhang's visit to the Dunhuang Caves and was an imitation of the frescos. The painting shows Zhang's masterful grasp of a different genre of painting.
You Shixun, Painting Expert, said, "Zhang Daqian has always been looking to Chinese painting traditions. He developed his own style by learning and absorbing a lot. Qi Baishi once commended him for being well acquainted with all styles of Chinese painting spanning five hundred years."
Collectors at the auction will also find works from Qi Baishi, Fu Baoshi, and other contemporary masters.
