Chan extends helping hand
In recent years, Jackie Chan has been spending more time on helping young talents than on his own acting career. His latest move is to produce a romantic comedy titled The Break-up Artist, directed by Steve Woo, a Hong Kong-born, New York-educated filmmaker.

The film gathers a group of young actors, including Lin Peng, singer Van Fan from Taiwan and Li Xinru, who played the leading role in the Chinese version of Ugly Betty.
Centering on a company which handles all kinds of relationship problems, the film is backed by luxury brands YSL, Zegna and Hugo Boss.
It is slated for release on Feb 14, 2011.
Through the eyes of painters
An exhibition that aims to show the Damiao Mountain through the eyes of painters, is on at the Cultural Palace of Nationalities in Beijing.
Some 200 oil and traditional Chinese ink paintings, authored by more than 100 painters, are on display in the main section of the palace.
They offer different perspectives of the beauty of Damiao Mountain, located in the Rongshui Miao autonomous county, Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
The show will run until Oct 27.
The way to go green
The International Green Habitat Forum 2010 sponsored by the China Merchants Property Development Co will be held on Dec 3 in Chengdu, Sichuan province.
It will focus on three topics: research and development of green technology, the concept of ecological cities, and low-carbon policy and public involvement.
The forum will gather 500 experts, government officials and corporate leaders specializing in green building technology and green economics.
Can private museums survive?
The first nationwide forum on the development of non-profit, privately run art museums was held from Oct 18-19 at Today Art Museum in Beijing.
Attended by Culture Ministry officials and directors of more than 30 non-profit, privately run art museums from across the country, the event explored a wide range of topics, including possible governmental support, cooperation between publicly funded art museums and privately run ones, and management strategies for privately run museums.
"We hope the forum will raise public awareness of the difficult situation facing privately run art museums," said Today Art Museum director Zhang Zikang, an initiator of the forum.
Farmer festival in Yunnan
The First Chinese Farmers Art Festival will run from Nov 17 to 22 in Fubao village - a popular tourist destination for folk culture -near Kunming, capital of Yunnan province.
Jointly held by the country's Ministry of Culture, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the provincial government of Yunnan, it will showcase the folk crafts, food, dance and music of the country's different regions and ethnic groups.
A highlight is the finals of the First National Contest for Country Singers, which will broadcast live online and on TV. Four finalists, chosen from more than 100 farmer contestants, from all parts of the nation, will present folk songs.
