China, Norway seek to boost military ties

BEIJING - Chen Bingde, chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China, met with visiting Norwegian Chief of Navy Staff Haakon Bruun-Hassen on Tuesday to discuss greater bilateral military ties.

"The military relationship is an important part of China-Norway relations, and in recent years, the two sides have maintained frequent high-level of exchanges and expanding cooperation," Chen said.

He said China held an active attitude towards the development of the China-Norway military relationship, and he believed military exchanges and cooperation would develop smoothly.

Haasen said the Norwegian side would continue to strengthen cooperation and exchanges between China and Norway, including links between the two navies.

Hassen said Norway would maintain the one-China policy.
