Baidu president to step down in October

Zhang Yaqin (pictured), 53, president of Baidu Inc, announced earlier this month he will retire in October. Zhang joined the company in 2014 and led its new businesses such as finance and education. He also helped it in its global expansion. Over the last two years, he worked on cutting-edge technologies such as intelligent cloud, chips and quantum computing, as well as accelerating commercialization of artificial intelligence. Before joining Baidu, Zhang served as chairman of Microsoft in China.
China Resources names Wang Xiangming GM
Wang Xiangming, 56, has been appointed general manager of China Resources (Holdings) Co Ltd earlier this month. The post has been vacant for half a year after Luo Xi left in September. Luo is now chairman of China Taiping Insurance Group Ltd and its Party chief. Before joining China Resources, Wang served as a board member and general manager of China State Construction Engineering Corp Ltd since 2016. Prior, he served as general manager of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co Ltd.
Postal Savings nominates Zhang as chairman
Zhang Jinliang, 50, was nominated for chairman of Postal Savings Bank of China earlier this month. He now serves as the unit's Party chief. Zhang has been general manager of the bank since August 2018. Prior, he was executive director of China Everbright Group, one of the largest State-owned financial services companies in China; president and deputy Party chief of China Everbright Bank; and vice-president of Bank of China. Zhang worked in the accounting department of BOC for years.
Yidao CEO Gong leaves after a short stint
Gong Zhenbing, CEO of Chinese ride-hailing company Yidao Yongche, left the company earlier this month. Gong joined the company in May 2018 as CEO. He served tech giant Baidu Inc in 2003 and was then named its director of channel department. In 2015, he was appointed CEO of online food delivery platform Baidu Waimai, which was rebranded as Star.Ele.me, a sub-brand of food delivery service provider Ele.me, in October. Wen Xiaodong, founder of Taoyun Capital, a major shareholder of Yidao, thanked Gong for his contributions toward managing financing and debt problems.
Xu Haiying is new GM of Harbin Pharma
Xu Haiying was appointed general manager of Sino-foreign equity joint venture Harbin Pharmaceutical Group Co earlier this month. The company said Xu will focus on corporate management, rationalize product structure and expand overseas business. Xu graduated from Peking University with a master's degree in international finance. In the past, she held roles like president of the China branch of Swiss-based pharmaceutical company Novartis and general manager of the health industry investment branch of China Merchants Group.
