Yu to replace husband Li as Dangdang CEO
Li Guoqing (pictured), 55, co-founder of China's major online bookstore Dangdang, left the company in February. He founded Dangdang with his wife Yu Yu in 1999. In 2010, the company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Chairman Yu will serve as CEO too. Li joined blockchain service provider Crysto and became CEO of its app Dapp, a digital content production, reading and trade platform. Li said in an open letter that he was driven by the ambition to begin an innovative business. Over the last three years, Li worked on promoting new businesses, including digital books, creative culture, film and retail.
Fortune Land names Wu Xiangdong to top post
Real estate company China Fortune Land Development Co Ltd named Wu Xiangdong as its CEO and president in February. Its headquarters in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, will develop long-term rental apartments, services for the elderly and a smart or intelligent city, in cooperation with Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China Ltd. Wu will lead the business. Prior, Wu stepped down from China Resources Land as executive director. He served the company for 14 years, helping it to develop both residential and commercial property.
Xie Haoming to pilot Hainan Airlines
Hainan Airlines Co Ltd appointed Xie Haoming as chairman and legal representative in late January. The company said Xie has rich experience in corporate management and civil aviation operations and related industries. He joined the company in 1995 and has led the maintenance, safety management, tourism and freight transport segments. He was named chairman of Hainan Airlines in 2016, but went on to serve as chairman of Tianjin Airlines in 2017. Xie succeeds former chairman Bao Qifa. Bao was one of the first engineers and founders of the company.
BOC reshuffles brass in key departments
Bank of China reshuffled some executives in February. Sun Yu, former director of overseas business, was appointed vice-president. Sun joined the bank in 1998 and once led the global finance operations. Wu Fulin and Lin Jingzhen, both vice-presidents, were appointed executive directors. Before joining the bank in 2018, Wu was general manager of strategy management department at China Everbright Bank. Liu Jiandong, former general manager of BOC's credit management department, was appointed risk director.
Gemdale appoints Wang Nan as VP
Gemdale Group appointed Wang Nan, 47, as its vice-president in February. Wang graduated from Peking University with an MBA and joined the company in 2002. Since then, he served in several roles: marketing director at the company's branches in Wuhan, Hubei province, and Shanghai; general manager of the Hangzhou branch; deputy general manager of eastern China operations; and strategy director and assistant president.
