Wan Feng quits as New China Life chairman

New China Life Insurance Co Ltd said Wan Feng (pictured) resigned as chairman and CEO on Jan 16 citing personal reasons. Li Zongjian, executive director, and Yang Zheng, vice-president, took over his duties on an interim basis. Prior, Wan served as the vice-president of China Life Insurance (Group) Co, and headed several of its subsidiaries. During his stint at New China Life, Wan pushed through radical reforms that brought about two-digit (almost 12 percent) growth in premium income last year, the highest since 2011.

Xiao Min steps down as Vanke director

Real estate giant China Vanke Co Ltd announced the resignation of Xiao Min as executive director. The company said Xiao made valuable contributions during his tenure. It said in a statement that Xiao's efforts had led to more efficient company operations. Xiao also works concurrently as board director, general manager, and deputy Party secretary of Shenzhen Metro Group Co Ltd.

Zou Jixin rises to chairman of Baosteel

Baoshan Iron & Steel Co Ltd, which is also known as Baosteel, has effected two management-level changes. Zou Jixin, until recently general manager, deputy Party secretary, and board director at Baosteel, has been promoted to chairman and Party secretary. Former chairman Dai Zhihao was appointed general manager of Ansteel Group Corp Ltd. Hou Angui, former assistant general manager, took over from Zou as general manager. Hou has been serving Baosteel for over 24 years now and has rich experience in steel production and technology management.

Mengniu Dairy hires Yu Xubo as chairman

China Mengniu Dairy Co Ltd named Yu Xubo as its new chairman, non-executive director, and as head of its nomination committee and strategy and development committee, with effect from Jan 7. Yu took over from Ma Jianping who resigned due to other work arrangements. Yu's appointment marks his return to Mengniu, where he served as non-executive director until September 2016. Prior, Yu held several management-level positions in China's major food and beverage company COFCO Group, including as its vicepresident and general manager of its subsidiary COFCO Futures Co Ltd.

Gree Electric gives Dong fresh term at the top

Gree Electric Appliances Inc appointed Dong Mingzhu as chairperson for a three-year tenure. The appointment is an extension of her tenure - she was first appointed chairperson in 2012. She said she will target annual sales growth of at least 10 percent for the next five years. She also said she would continue with the company's strategic expansion in home electric appliances and other fields, including phones and chips. The company also appointed Dong, Huang Hui, Wang Jingdong, Zhang Wei, Zhang Jundu, and Guo Shuzhan as board directors.
