80 years of Shandong food

Feng Ze Yuan, Beijing's oldest restaurant specializing in Shandong cuisine, celebrated its 80th anniversary recently. An exhibition at the restaurant's Zhushikou headquarters displayed the history of four generations of chefs of the restaurant.

Representatives from the China Cuisine Association presented a "China Gold Chef Award" to the restaurant's kitchen team, and to Yin Zhenjiang, the eatery's executive chef.

Its recent makeover has resulted in an imperial-garden style, with a 50-meter-long corridor displaying the restaurant's history.

The ongoing food festival, until Oct 17, has discounts on the sea cucumber set meal, as well as other dishes. A family banquet with the famous braised sea cucumber with shallots costs 938 yuan ($140) for a table of 10, while another costs 1,380 yuan for a table of 10. Packed dim sum at 138 yuan a box will be available at 88 yuan.
