Ji Cheng

It seems that Shanghai designer Ji Cheng is yet to run out of ideas on how to use Chinese aesthetics in her designs. Chinese elements have been largely abandoned by her peers, many of whom feel a Chinese style can look "tacky". With a unique touch of elegance, Ji opened this year's Shanghai Fashion Week with her collection: Bamboo Mist, a natural follow up from her previous season’s signatures like crane shadow and peony pavilion. While the high waistlines are reminiscent of bamboo joints, the multi-layered, dip-dyed chiffon paints a vivid illustration of misty bamboo grove.
