Greener approach to paper recycling takes root

A partnership between an Australian university and a company in Guangdong province is paving the way for a greener approach to business.

The University of Sydney's Waste Transformation Research Hub announced a tie-up with Dongguan Jianhui Paper Co, a paper recycling and manufacturing company, at the end of October.

"Paper recycling plants use a lot of water, which they require to treat the wastepaper during the recycling process," says University of Sydney associate professor Ali Abbas. "Because of the Chinese government's stricter environmental protection guidelines for recycling plants, many companies are looking for ways to enhance water efficiency."
