In the past three years, Ruili People's Court, in the southwestern province of Yunnan, has made efforts to resolve disputes involving individuals or businesses from Myanmar as a way of upholding justice and ensuring border security.

As a city on the China-Myanmar border, Ruili has more than 50,000 permanent residents from Myanmar, accounting for 20 percent of the population, according to court statistics. To date, Ruili has witnessed 5,233 cross-border marriages, the court said.
"Having witnessed the growth in trade and visits between the two nations, we've also seen and resolved a rising number of Myanmar-related disputes," said Gao Bo, a judge at the court.
