Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2019 in recognition of his efforts to end his country's long-running border conflict with Eritrea.
Abiy's office tweeted in response that Ethiopia was "proud as a nation" to have won.
Norway's Nobel Committee said it "hopes the peace agreement (between Abiy and President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea) will help to bring about positive change for the entire populations of Ethiopia and Eritrea".
